Sera Holland (b. 1981, Johannesburg, South Africa) is an artist and designer based in South Africa. She studied graphic design in Cape Town before moving to Dublin and later returned home to start and run her own textile design business before transitioning into painting and ceramics full time. Sera has participated in various exhibitions with galleries across South Africa and abroad.

Sera’s paintings have tactile appeal and fearless use of colour, yet her engagement with paint is more deliberate and considered than it may initially appear. Drawing on a longstanding interest in colour and material, as well as her experience in design, textiles and ceramics, she approaches painting as both a sensory and investigative process. Her work is guided by intuition and shaped by the physical demands of oil paint and an ongoing exploration of how sensory experience influences perception. At its core, her practice examines how order and chaos can coexist within a single surface, and what might emerge when emotion, instinct, and material curiosity are allowed to take the lead. Her paintings are developed slowly and intentionally, layer by layer, as Sera tests the limits of paint as both a physical substance and a visual language.
