The painting is titled Flesh and Blood and speaks to the multiplicity of being a woman. Where ‘flesh’ points to the physical attributes of women, the intimacy of the relationships we have with our own bodies, and ‘blood’ speaks to the constant cycles of reproduction and bodily demands. This work asserts that women are beautiful, tough and strong, vulnerable, imperfect and sometimes a bit spikey - always holding everything and everyone together. Much like a tapestry holding threads.
