Glimpse

A mini solo group show with Lizamore Gallery in Johannesburg.

“Glimpse” is an extension of “Kaleidoscope”, which introduced a shift in how her work can be seen and understood. While her paintings have long been recognised for their tactile appeal and fearless colour, this exhibition reveals a practice that is more deliberate and considered than what one would initially think. These paintings are essentially structured around how order and chaos coexist inside the same surface. An exploration of what would happen if emotion, instinct, and material curiosity were allowed to take the lead. Sera’s use of oil paint may appear exuberant on first encounter, but instead it is built up slowly, layer by layer, while she tests the limits of the paint as both substance and language. The result is a body of work that invites close looking and rewards it, offering viewers an entry into sera's ongoing study of how colour, texture, and intuition operate together.
